With the 2024/2025 indoor season now in full swing, Midlands Roller Speed Club (MRSC) host the third event on 16th February 2025 with a return to Hinckley Leisure Centre, the site of their first race as a club.
The majority of the event will consist of traditional lap races, with the added thrills and spills of the Clubs’ signature race format, the Midlands Alternative Course, standing out as a real highlight. The third time ever that this format has been run, it was introduced by and is unique to the Club, and is a huge hit with spectators and skaters alike for its entertainment value. The Federations electronic timing system will be in use at this event, enabling the races to be followed live.
The MRSC Club Race is suitable for new and experienced skaters alike, providing an excellent opportunity for those with less experience or new to the sport to acquire some familiarity with indoor racing, and an opportunity for those who already have racing experience to gain some track time in a competitive setting.
Skaters are placed into categories according to their ability. For the very youngest skaters and those entirely new to the sport, there is also a novice category. For those adult skaters who do not meet the speed requirements of the faster categories, but feel uncomfortable competing against children, Category 2A is the place for you.
For the category races, skaters earn points according to their finishing position in each race. The winner gains 1 point, second place 2 points, and so forth. At the end of the race meeting the skater with the least points across the three category races is the winner of their category. The additional races are awarded separately.
The full list of races can be found below:
The Midlands Alternative Course is the clubs signature event, consisting of small (optional) jumps, the (in)famous circle section, and other twists and turns. Another key aspect of this race is the incorporation of various starting positions, including standing, sitting with legs crossed, and lying down. These starting formats will be evaluated by the referee on the day to match the ability levels of the athletes in each category. The Course was first debuted back in 2023 and is very much a highlight of the event. You can view the course layout HERE
Doors open at 08:45am; racing will start promptly at 09:30 am. Racing and presentations are scheduled to finish at 1:00 pm.
Registration closes on Sunday 9th February 2025. There is no later or on the day entry for this event, with the exception of novice skaters who can also enter online, and we would encourage to do so.
