CONDITIONS OF CONTEST (RACING RULES)
- Skaters must follow the instructions from race officials.
- Helmets must be worn at all times whilst skates are being used.
- A bell will be rung to denote the last lap.
- Skaters may be asked to move over to be lapped
- Skaters may be asked to leave the track via disqualification or other infringement
- Under the referees request the lap board may be frozen and skaters asked to reduce speed until it is safe for the race to continue
- In instances where there are warnings and/or disqualifications, an announcement will be made. It is the responsibility of the coaches/club representatives to explain the decision to their skaters however the referee may call the skater and a club representative into the middle to explain. If any clarification outside of this is required, the procedure in the point below should be followed.
- No one is to approach the centre of the track/enter the track, or an official who is undertaking their duties on the track, unless they have been invited to do so. Skaters, coaches and/or club representatives may respectfully approach either an official who is situated nearby/ outside of the track itself or gain the attention of Secretary to raise their issue and bring their written appeal with their payment as set out in the Rules. The issue should be raised in a concise and respectful manner within the permitted 15 minute time slot and a decision will then be made. This should not take place during an active race. It is not acceptable to enter the track
- Relay changeovers will take place from the relay zone of the track. Skaters should enter the track from the Relay Loading Zone and ensure they execute their changeover between the entry point and before the finish line.
- Team skinsuits/uniform are to be worn during presentations on the podium. It is not necessary to wear skates on the podium
RACE FORMATS AND HEATS
Category 6 1 Lap Sprint – Straight race, there will be no heats for this race
500M – First two skaters from each heat progress to the final. 4 skaters in the final. Category 6 500m will be a straight race.
Relay Heats – The first two teams in each heat progress to the final. Four teams in the final.
Points Races – Points every lap from lap 3 onwards. 2 points for first on a points lap, 1 point for second. On the final lap, the skater finishing in first place earns 3 points, second skater 2 points, and the third skater takes 1 point.
