2025 BRITISH NATIONAL OUTDOOR TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS: CONDITIONS OF CONTEST/RULES
A bell will be rung to denote the last lap.
Skaters must follow instructions from race officials. Please be respectful and listen to the organising team.
Skaters may be asked to move over to be lapped.
Under the referee’s request in the event of an incident the lap board may be frozen and skaters asked to reduce speed until it is safe for the race to continue.
The schedule may be altered on the day at the discretion of the officials.
Helmets must be worn at all times on the track.
Team skinsuits are to be worn at presentations on the podium. We would prefer skates not to be worn for safety reasons.
The 200m Time Trial will be started on a signal.
There will be a maximum of five boxes in each 500m heat. Heats will be drawn according to the times achieved in the 200m time trial.
In categories where there is only one skater, times will be used to determine gold, silver or bronze place.
Skaters may be asked to leave the track via disqualification or other infringement. In instances where there are warnings and/or disqualifications, an announcement will be made. It is the responsibility of the coaches/Club representatives to explain the decision to their skaters and if any clarification is required, the procedure in point 12 below must be followed.
No one may approach the centre of the track or an official who is on the track unless they have been invited to do so. Skaters, coaches and Club representatives may respectfully approach either an official who is positioned outside of the track itself or gain the attention of another responsible person. If this is not possible, the nearest official will suffice. The individual must raise their issue in a concise manner and bring their written appeal along with their payment of £20 within the permitted 15 minute time slot as laid out in the Rules. This will then be relayed to the Referee and or officiating team and a decision will be made. It is not acceptable to enter the track.
There should be no entering or crossing of the track whilst racing is underway under any circumstances, unless you are an official or have permission.
Elimination races may be run as a straight race where the number of skaters does not allow for this race format to be run.
Non-national skaters are not eligible for the British Championship title, however if these skaters place in the top three positions in their race, this achievement will be acknowledged and recognised by invitation onto the podium for the announcement of the race result. An alternative to the national medal will be presented. The British Championships podium will then be announced and presented.
If a non-national skater progresses to the final in the 500m, this may result in a British skater being promoted to the final if required to determine a British Championship result. If more than one non-national progresses to the final, then A and B finals will be run to determine the Championship result.
