2007 marks the inaugural year of the British Inline
Cup. The BIC is a marathon series comprising three events this year,
with points being awarded to competitors based on finish positions.
The first three ladies and men overall will receive a trophy or
medal. There are no age or team categories. The competition is run
as an “Open” with both licensed and recreational skaters
able to take part.
For its first year, the competition is under review. There will
be no entry fees and so no prize money unless a sponsor puts some
up. In future years it is anticipated that it will become self-funding
where there will be a nominal fee which all goes towards paying
for trophies and prize money. The level of participation will determine
its success.
Although points are only awarded for the first 15 places, a marathon
ranking will be calculated for all racers participating in the series.
For the purposes of the BIC placings and rankings, only your best
two races will be taken into account, so should you not be able
to compete in all three races you may still be able to win a prize
or, should you not be satisfied with one of your results from he
first two races, you an try to improve your position with the third
race.
The full rules can be found in the BIC
Rulebook.
